Walls and Waterproofing..

We drove to the homesite yesterday and had such a great time. the forms were off and waterproofing was in place. it was such a great feeling to see the walls and the proper outline of the house. Then we decided to take a walk around our community (small cul-de-sac of 14 houses). We met our neighbors, who were out doing gardening and stuff.. It was so wonderful to meet them and we were out chatting for maybe an hour or more. We are even more excited now to live in a very nice neighborhood.

And now the pics..

Forms are Formed!!

Just went to check on the homesite yesterday and we had forms with concrete poured.. Wow it looked awesome. Looks like its getting on track. Also got an email from our PM saying the foundation walls are complete and tomorrow they are going to start waterproofing and underground stuff and maybe framing next week. Still cant believe its all getting real now.. super excited :)

We have footers!!

So we waited, waited and waited till the end of the week Saturday, May 2nd (Our 11th wedding anniversary)  to see if they did anything over a million holes they drilled on our lot. we didn't even hear anything from the PM. So we drove to the lot and saw they have poured footers now. Atlas some progress :). Judging from the other people's blogs I believe it should be foundation walls next..

This is the panorama view of our lot. right side would be the garage and left would be the basement. Thank you to our awesome neighbors in lot 7 for taking nice pictures of our lot as well.

Furniture Galore!!

So last weekend we got our hands dirty with some furniture shopping.. We went to Arhaus store here and loved a lot of stuff... We are expecting to host a few guests after we move in, since we were holding up on having formal guests in this apartment. We ended up getting six dining chairs, a hutch and a buffet and a dining table. most of their stuff is all wood, no veneer and is gorgeous. The table and hutch/buffet that we got is made in India. So we are excited about getting a piece of our country in our new house.

Here are a couple pics. The chairs we got are in Tan instead of Grey. I will add a pic of the table if I find it, but it matches the hutch.

Day 2 of Construction

So we went again today to the homesite and saw all the holes have been drilled and have been filled with rebar and concrete. Will be interesting to see how they build foundation walls over these next. :).

A

Finally!!!!

Yes.. Today is the day. APRIL 27, 2015 when they finally started our house.. Knock on the wood!! We are delayed by one good month and I am beyond nervous if they are gonna finish it by the end of our lease in the current apartment. But all said and done, we are very happy, excited and thankful that it finally started right. They are doing what's called pier and beam foundation. It means that since the soil is soft, they have to drill huge holes in the ground and have beams in it, on which the house will be built. We are really happy that they are doing the things right. In the long scheme of things, a couple weeks delay wont matter much, as long the house is built on a solid ground.

Now we just pray to the weather god to not have more delays moving forward :)

The Waiting Game!!

So its been a while since I posted. Nothing much was going on except waiting for them to start our foundation. Hopefully they are going to start this week and the things get rolling. Our current lease ends in the end of July.

Meanwhile I kept my cool looking around for some stuff online. decor ideas, paint and lots of cool DIY stuff people do. We also threw a party for our kids birthday today and enjoyed cooking a nice meal and eating with friends :). All the time I was imagining cooking in my gorgeous new kitchen.. So now hopefully, I should have some update to share by the end of upcoming week.. Happy building everyone!!
